Delete your account
This page is for the MyHelpGroup app — for Android phones, with an optional Wear OS watch, and for iPhone — published by Cesar Bremer Pinheiro. You can delete your account at any time, with or without the app installed. Removing the app from your phone does not delete the account: use one of the ways below.
From the app
The steps are the same on Android and on iPhone; only the menu button looks different.
- Open MyHelpGroup on your phone.
- Open the menu at the top right — ⋮ on Android, ⋯ (three dots in a circle) on iPhone — and choose Delete account.
- Read what will be removed, type your user name to confirm, and tap Delete forever.
The phone needs internet for this. When the server confirms, the app erases everything it kept on the phone. On Android it then closes; open it again to start over. On iPhone it shows Account deleted; tap Back and the app starts over from the first screen.
If you have the app on more than one phone, deleting the account from one of them is enough: the others, and a linked watch, stop working with it.
Without the app
Write to [email protected] from the e-mail address of your account, with the subject “Delete my account” and your user name. We confirm the request with you and delete the account within 30 days — usually much sooner.
What is deleted
- Your account: user name, name, e-mail address and language.
- Every device of the account — Android phones, iPhones and watch — and the keys that let them talk to our server, including the address our server uses to send notifications to an iPhone.
- Your check-in schedule and emergency settings stored on the server.
- Your last known position kept on the server.
- Your memberships: you leave every group you support. If you own a group, the group is dissolved — its members stop receiving your alerts and are told the group no longer exists.
- Pending invitations to you, and the invitation history about you.
- Your blocks: the people you blocked, and the blocks others made against you.
Your user name and e-mail address become free to be used again.
What is kept, and for how long
- Alerts you already sent stay in the history of the people who received them, on their own phones, and in the e-mail of anyone they were sent to. We cannot reach into other people’s phones or mailboxes.
- Reports you filed stay with our support team, anonymized: your name and identifier are removed from them.
- Reports about you are kept, as evidence, while they are being reviewed and for up to 365 days after they are resolved; then they are deleted.
- On our server, delivery and audit records of past alerts are removed automatically after at most 90 days, and activity logs after 7 days. They are not used for anything else in the meantime.
- Voice recordings never stay on our server longer than one hour, whether or not you delete your account.
